Plastic Injection Mold Steel Material

(1)C45 W carbon steel

USA standard #﹕ AISI 1050 ~ 1055﹔
Japan standard #﹕ S50C ~ S55C
Germany standard #﹕ 1.1730。
Carbon steel also named as ace steel coming with hardness of HB170-HB220, is reasonable in price, easy to process, suitable for frameworks, withstands of molds, and some trivial parts. General mold frameworks are available in this steel material.

(2) 40 CrMn Mo 7 pre-hardened plastic mold steel

USA, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China standard # As P20 steel is comprehensively used in the field of plastic injection, many brands are available popularly.

(3) Mirror Steel

Daido Tienwen Steel Co., Ltd, Japanese make﹕NAK 80(hardness 400HRC+20) ﹐NAK 80 is suitable for fixed mold insert。

(4) X 40 CrMo V51 Hot work steel

USA, China, Hong Kong, Singapore standard number﹕AISI H13; DIN﹕(Europe)1.2344﹔Japan SKD61﹐the output hardness of the steel is HB185~HB230 and thermal treatment is needed. The hardness of steel used on molds generally is 480~520HRC﹐and which can also be replaced by nitriding treatment. As thermal treatment is a must, processing is more difficult and cost thus is higher. If thermal treatment needs to reach hardness over 40HRC, roughing before thermal treatment is necessary﹐especiallythe water holes, screw holes, and tapping must be prepared before thermal treatment to keep from troublesome annealing and rework.

(5) X42 Cr 13 Stainless steel

AISI﹕420 STAVAX DIN﹕1.2083; factory hardnessHB180~240﹐is in need of thermal treatment. As application hardness of 480~520HRC﹐is not suitable for nitriding treatment(sharp angle cracks).Good in corrosion resistant and in polishing effect, the steel is great for transparent plastic or corrosion resistant products together with PVC, and fireproof materials V2, V1, and V0.. The steel is also popularly used in plastic molds.
